A Quality Assurance Manager is required to join a leading producer of floral bouquets and plants for retailers in the UK and Ireland. Based just West of Hull at the start of the M62 corridor, with other significant operations in Holland, Ireland and Spalding they carefully select and pack over 200 million stems per annum. They have a very fast paced environment, which requires working as a team and they drive to make their customers stand out, by taking ownership of the floral category with an innovative approach. They are proud of their team, who are all very committed in achieving their collective goals. They have experienced significant growth in recent years and they currently employ approx. 250 employees and have a budget turnover of £100 million in 2015.
As the Quality Assurance Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that the specified quality of their products is achieved consistently and that they realize or exceed their customer's expectations
Ideally a confident, motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the successful candidate reporting to the company Technical Manager will be highly customer focused with a determination to continually improve all aspects of the business' quality performance.
Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage, but the ability to demonstrate enthusiasm and drive for the role is of equal importance
Primary functions
- Quality Champion, raising quality awareness across the business
- To be the catalyst that promotes and develops a proactive culture within the business
- Liaise with the production team and stimulate robust improvements to all areas of the manufacturing process
- Provide support and motivate an already established and enthusiastic Quality Assurance team
- Encourage and enforce compliance with the company Hygiene Rules
Responsibilities:
- Initiate investigation into failures in the production process
- Investigate all customer concerns
- Liaise with the commercial and buying departments on all issues
- Ensuring compliance to all manufacturing process'
- Carry out other quality related tasks as required by our customers and the company management
Knowledge and skills
Essential:
- Enthusiasm
- Experience in a fast moving production environment
- Excellent communication and negotiating skills at all levels
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to multitask and work without supervision
Desirable:
- Knowledge of HACCP
- Knowledge of horticultural production
- Quality Assurance related qualifications
- Experience of Microsoft Dynamics GP
Salary scale: £25,000 - £27,000 dependent on experience Contributory Pension Scheme.
Other Considerations:
- Core Working Hours 7:30am to 5pm Monday to Friday: some Saturday work may be necessary
- Additional hours will be worked during seasonal events
- Occasional travel to remote sites
- Own Transport is essential.
