SEN Teaching Assistant required for York

This SEN Primary school in York is looking for a teaching assistant, preferrably Level 3 qualified, who has experience of supporting young children with Autism and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).

The children work towards the National Curriculum levels and the structure of the days is similar to most classes with all core and foundation subjects taught in conjunction with social and communication skills. They do additional group about movement (body awareness), language groups, singing groups and PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System).


The successful candidate will be:

  • A teaching assistant with experience of working with children on the autistic spectrum
  • Able to join an already successful and hard working team
  • Able to use their own initiative
  • Determined to provide high level childcare and education at an appropriate level
  • Enthusiastic in making learning engaging


Ideally Moving and Handling/Team Teach trained but this will be provided by Randstad if not.
