ISD Technical Team Manager - Network Design
The Technical Team Manager (Design) is responsible for the technical design of UK Server & Storage Infrastructure as required by projects across Asda. Leading a team of Technical Experts, the Technical Team Manager creates technical designs that are fit for purpose, adhere to appropriate architectural & industry standards and provide best value for the lifetime of the solution. In addition to producing the technical design the successful candidate will be responsible for leading a small technical team & supporting critical service escalations where required.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate technical leadership in Server/Storage/Client Design.
• Demonstrate the skills required to design Infrastructure solutions with a value that could exceed GBP1M
• Lead and manage the technical Colleagues within the Design team
• Understand emerging technologies and trends, introducing them into Asda where appropriate
• Collaborate with ISD Architects & Wal*Mart US colleagues to deliver fit for purpose technical solutions
• Develop technical strategies, support the delivery of new standards & Infrastructure roadmaps for the next 3 years
• Support the timely delivery of Asda ISD's project portfolio which is typically around 100 projects per year.
• Recruit, inspire, mentor and motivate the team
• Propose developments that lower operating costs or increase efficiency without compromising quality
• Provide 3rd line technical capabilities to support critical Service escalations where required
• Represent Infrastructure Design at project-level Architectural forums, challenging/approving solutions as required

• Logical and methodical approach to problem solving
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Demonstrate the determination & passion to succeed
• Possess significant experience of enterprise IT environments.
Technical Skills required:
• In depth specialist knowledge of Servers/Storage & Client Operating Systems
• Industry recognised certification - VCP in VMware Vsphere 5.1 and above
• Expert in Microsoft core technologies - MCITP OR MCSE with a strong knowledge of AD & IIS
• Demonstrate significant knowledge of Storage Technology with a focus on EMC
Desirable Technical Skills:
• RHEL & SUSE
• MS Exchange
