Farnell element14 is looking for an experienced German native/fluent speaking translator to fill a permanent full time position at our head offices in Leeds (UK) or Munich (Germany). This is an exceptional opportunity to work for one of the world leading Electronics Distributors combining your translation and technical knowledge into an exciting and challenging role. Our ideal candidate will work as part of a dynamic global multilingual team alongside experts in their field, translating product data ie product descriptions, technical attribute data and catalogue copy, for use on our websites.

A minimum of 2 years experience in a translation role is essential. It is a positive advantage to have qualifications or experience in a marketing context or in a relevant product category.

You will also need to have excellent working knowledge of Microsoft packages. Full training on in-house software packages will be provided.

Skills and qualities

• Possess superior writing, editing, and grammar skills in German and English
• Computer and word processing skills are essential, preferably with translation software familiarity
• Translate the text clearly, accurately and in the style intended by the author
• Familiarity with and flair for research on technical fields
• Work independently and as part of a multilingual translation team in a fast-pace environment
• Manage work schedules to meet strict campaign deadlines
• Excellent communicator and team player with ability to network and build contacts
• Ability to grasp varied and complex issues, react swiftly to changing circumstances, manage information and communicate effectively
