Software Engineer - Site Reliability - Leeds (LS1) - GBP50K - Open Source, Performance Testing, Tooling

A huge online organisation require a number of strong Software Engineer/Site Reliability Engineer that offers a broad range of knowledge with Open Source development, automation & performance testing and tooling to join a team responsible for delivering high volume commercial web sites/applications.

As Software Engineer/Site Reliability Engineer you would work as part of a very skilled engineering team to build and run services and ensure the systems and web applications my client launch remain available, reliable and efficient. In this role you will also be required to design, build and automate tools and processes to ensure and improve availability, scalability and performance across the technology stack.

A Software Engineer with knowledge in the following areas would be well suited:
- Open Source development (PHP, Perl, Bash, Python, Ruby, Powershell)
- Debugging
- Tooling
- Linux (Redhat/CentOS)
- Apache
- Rundeck
- Chef
- Graphite
- Hadoop
- Splunk
- Agile

The successful Web/DevOps Engineer would be joining a team currently close to 500 based in Leeds City Centre. As a Web/DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring my clients' customers get the best quality of service and uptime available across their web platforms. You will work closely with the developers and architects to design and integrate systems running on a LAMP application stack and also develop tools and procedures to be able to manage the demand on their systems.

In this role you will primarily be using open source technologies and products in a LAMP environment. My client actively encourages and supports their staff to be fully involved in the open-source community and continue to invest in some excellent training for the team.
