Senior Commercial Officer - Keynsham, Bristol
Permanent - GBP38,685 + Benefits
We are looking for a talented and ambitious Senior Commercial Officer to work on an exciting new opportunity that has arisen with UK's largest engineering support and infrastructure supplier, based out of one of their successful divisions in Keynsham, Bristol.
The organisation is a rapidly expanding FTSE100 engineering support services and infrastructure organisation and is the largest supplier of support services to the Ministry of Defence. The role is responsible for providing commercial support in bidding for and managing contracts, predominantly in the UK, providing Senior Commercial Officer support to the Bristol commercial team.
The role will provide commercial support and guidance to the in relation to key submarine business contracts and opportunities across a number of critical programmes. This includes working with the MOD to understand their requirements and developing commercial models to fit the respective opportunities.
The main responsibilities of this role include.
- To secure work with acceptable terms by supervising and undertaking the preparation of commercial elements for tenders, tasking forms and Contract Amendments together with negotiation of Prime and Sub Contracts.
- Involved in full life cycle of contracts from Bidding/PQQ/tender acceptance through to delivery
- Contracts range in value from GBP000's up to GBPm's and will either be responsible for, or, supporting on these depending on value
- Liaison with project teams and provision of commercial advice
- To provide and maintain the commercial point of contact to the Customer(s) together with the provision of commercial representation at Customer progress meetings.
- Types of contract include Enabling, Logistics Support, Availability
- Working closely with technical, quality and finance teams
In order to carry out these duties effectively the Senior Commercial Officer should be able to display skills and experience in the following requirements.
- Degree qualified or 5 years' experience in a commercial/legal or related role
- Experience working on defence contracts is desirable
- The ability to develop and manage prime and subcontracts and pre-contractual agreements including confidentiality and teaming agreements.
- Has the confidence to make a decision based on the information they have or after consultation with others
- Explores requirements with practical solutions for customers
- Has experience in line management; including the development of and support to team personnel.
- Presents well structured, concise and clear written and verbal communications
- To have an understanding of Trade Controls compliance and provide export/import advice for military and/or dual use products, services and/or technology to ensure compliance with trade legislation and regulations
- Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle, a moderate amount of UK travel is expected
- The role is working on secure military contracts therefore the successful applicant will need to satisfy Security Clearance (SC) checks.
