Position: Metrology Service Engineer
Location: Derby
Salary: £22,000 to £30,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
Benefits: Annual bonus, based on both personal and company performance, circa £7,000 to £10,000; Use of company car including business mileage, plus all the usual expenses.

The Company:

Our client are a leading metrology expert with an outstanding reputation within their field, they supply a range of 3D measurement, inspection and scanning systems to some of the UK’s major manufacturing organisations.

Due to a recent strategic acquisition and expansion plans, they are currently seeking to employ a Metrology Service Engineer based at their Derby facility.
 
The Position:

You will be part of an accomplished and highly skilled team of metrology specialists. You must be prepared to travel around the UK to carry out scheduled maintenance, calibration and emergency service of precision measuring equipment whilst ensuring repeat business through exceptional levels of customer service and support.

The successful candidate for this Metrology Service Engineer role will work alongside the Service Manager to provide service, maintenance and calibration of specialised measuring machines, known as Coordinate Measuring Machines.

The primary responsibility of the position is calibrating the machines to an International standard that is specified by UKAS – The United Kingdom Accreditation Service, therefore, an eye for detail is vital.

This role can be demanding and can also involve working long hours on occasions, so candidate flexibility is paramount.

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate should have a mechanical and/or electronics engineering background, although full, on-going, training will be given.

Of key importance is that the successful candidate has the right attitude to working in a close knit team of engineers and will hold the following skills and expertise:
  • Solid knowledge of general service and maintenance of technical equipment
  • Good mechanical background with electronic fault finding ability
  • Experience of precision electro-mechanical equipment, with a good mechanical background and electronic fault finding ability
  • Able to follow calibration procedures to ensure the highest levels of accuracy
  • Logical and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Absorb technical information quickly and perform tasks whilst under pressure
  • Excellent time management and organisation
  • Work well as part of a team and also individually without supervision
  • A full, clean driving licence
  • Knowledge of 3D measuring software, CMM’s and metrology would be highly advantageous.
