Independent Remuneration Committee Member

£400 per day for 6-8 days per annum

The General Dental Council is the regulator of dental professionals in the UK. Our role is to enhance patient safety, improve the quality of dental care and maintain public confidence in dental regulation. We aim to regulate in a way that is proportionate, accountable, transparent, consistent, targeted, and responsive to changing demands, risks and priorities.

The key purpose of the Remuneration Committee is to establish a transparent procedure for the remuneration of key officers, Council members and other non-Executive post holders. The Committee ensures that there are appropriate incentives to encourage enhanced performance and also discusses and addresses some aspects of the wider HR agenda. The Committee consists of a chair, two members of Council and an independent member.

We are now seeking to appoint a new independent member at a critical time for the GDC. You will be able to demonstrate recent and relevant experience and expertise in strategic reward management, preferably gained within the private sector. Additionally, you will have recent Remuneration Committee experience, gained in organisations of operational scale and complexity.

This is a challenging and high profile appointment, requiring an individual with outstanding communication skills, the ability to assimilate and make robust decisions around complex information and the clear ability to work collaboratively with others. You will share our values and have an empathy with our work and demonstrate a genuine interest in safeguarding the health and well-being of the public.
