Role Summary
Product Consultants are talented individuals; able to evolve business requirements and strategic visions into actionable product development plans through the exploration of technical possibilities. Acting as a link between our development team and management, product strategy & sales force - they are strong communicators who strive to clarify for all stakeholders. Also recognised as the "Product Expert" - they consult on pre/post-sales client engagements to ensure we provide the best solutions possible.
The ideal candidate will have an excellent understanding of how clients use data and analytics to drive business benefit, ideally in a marketing context. They'll have a keen desire to develop deeper insights through engagement and research activities, and apply this knowledge to solve real world problems - drawing on existing communication, networking and stakeholder management competencies.
The successful candidate will drive positive change and growth in an existing portfolio of consumer data products. The most notable being - our UK ConsumerView data asset.
Background & Division
Reporting into the Head of Technical Product Management within the Targeting Product Development group (part of Experian Marketing Services), we supports products and services underpinning over $930m revenue annually.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with product strategy management to capture business strategy & requirements and evolve these into a clear direction for the development team
- Support the development team and represent stakeholders to ensure new solutions are successfully developed from initial planning, through product launch and into support
- Recognised as the product expert, assisting the sales force in pre/post-sales client support engagements
- Proactively own, develop and maintain short/mid-term product roadmaps and development plans for assigned products, ensuring alignment to the business strategy
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of current and future client needs through engagement and research activities
Job requirements and qualifications
Essential:
- Experience of capturing business requirements and interpreting for different audiences
- Deep appreciation of the real world application & value of data and information
- Proven critical thinking, problem solving and innovative
- Communicating with impact, seasoned presenter and strong business writer
- Strong relationship building and networking, effective at all levels within an organisation
- Stakeholder management skills, able to positively influence, understand & differentiate between audiences, tailoring messages as needed
- Driven - effective decision making, organisational and time management skills
Desirable:
- Knowledge of data mining, predictive analytics, segmentation, measurement and visualisation techniques and related technologies
- Extensive experience working in or closely with product management & product development groups
- Experience of leading and operating in virtual teams, and strong collaborator
Location & Travel:
The role will be based at our offices in Nottingham with some travel to other Experian offices, Client and Supplier locations mainly in the UK. Occasional travel overseas may also be needed.
