C# .NET Software Engineer: About the Role

My client offers a full range of bespoke software related services to some of the biggest companies in the UK - no two projects are the same, and you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of different engagements. You will be responsible for the end to end development of bespoke, high quality software, encompassing all aspects of the software development life cycle. You will have an understanding of both functional and non-functional requirements and will use these to produce well designed software. You will work primarily within a project team, but will be expected to present ideas to both management and clients confidently and effectively.

C# .NET Software Engineer: Essential Key Skills and Background

  • Experience of software development using C#, version 2 and greater, in a commercial environment
  • Experience of developing with Visual Studio 10 onwards
  • Strong Object Oriented skills
  • Good database knowledge, in particular MS SQL Server.
  • An understanding of continuous integration, build tools and Scripting
  • Experience of source code version control using tools such as TFS, Git, Subversion or Mercurial
  • Automated testing including unit testing with either NUnit or MSTest, integration and end-to-end testing
  • Experience of UI development in at least one of the following; WinForms, WPF, Silverlight, ASP.NET MVC, or ASP.NET
  • Exceptional problem solving skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A passion for programming and a willingness to learn and use new technology
  • The ability to work as part of a team whilst also having the confidence to present ideas to management and clients autonomously
  • A strong academic background, you will have a degree at 2:1 (or equivalent)
