Credit Underwriter

Our client, the fastest growing alternative lender in the UK is looking for a high-calibre customer focussed individual with 2-3 years of B2B customer service; accounts management or collections experience to join the team in West London as their Credit Underwriter. The successful candidate will receive a salary of £22,000 - £25,000 per annum plus bonus.
Our client is technology-enabled with automation in all aspects of the business. The team leverages automated communications (texts, emails, letters, and computer-driven calls), debt collection partners, and outbound calls to minimise late payments.
Responsibilities of their Credit Underwriter include:
- Key member of Credit and Risk team, reporting to Team Leader
- Analyse and articulate complex risk decisions in a clear succinct manner to introducers, sales and customer service teams
- Build positive relationships with internal sales teams to drive best practice in implementing credit policy in line with company revenue targets
- Underwrite 60+ business loans applications per day for of up to £20,000 through to decision per day using financial and performance data
- Resolve escalated customer queries relating to account reviews
- Work closely with team to drive continuous improvements and consistency of decisions
- Take the lead on automation projects to improve their processes and systems
- Review and build statistics and reports to analyse and monitor team performance
- Source new product development opportunities through identification of team and business needs

To be become their Credit Underwriter you must have the following skills, experience and attributes:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience of retail / SME/ consumer credit risk underwriting preferred
- Analytical minded, able to process data in a fast, consistent and accurate manner to confidently provide a decision
- Strong communication skills, able to communicate complex decisions in person or by phone
- Strong customer service focus
- Team player who is focused on sales growth and business targets
- Understanding of compliance and financial obligations of working within a regulated environment
- Passionate about driving change and improving automation of processes
- Self-starter, able to deliver on projects independently or within a team
