Head Of Portfolio - GBP68,000 Lease Car & Great Pension, Leeds - National Role

Our client is a major National employer seeking an accomplished and confident leader to become the Head of Portfolio to lead their dynamic team of project and programme managers as they drive a number of change programmes throughout the organisations supply chain.

You should possess the necessary gravitas to engage with internal and exterior stakeholders to board level with a strong track record of change management within a strict governance environment, you should be adept at making things happen and keeping control of a variety of programmes through your meticulous approach.

Key Skills

Programme Management

  • Experience of managing GBPmulti-million programmes with a successful track record in financial and benefits management and effective dependency/risk management.

  • Experience of delivering a variety of change programmes within operational environments - system redesign, service redesign (including restructuring), consolidation activity etc.

  • Successful track record in developing and delivering agreed benefits to operational functions.

  • Desirable - Experience of developing a strategic change portfolio that balances funding constraints, business leadership, project delivery capability, risk appetite and organisational capacity to absorb

  • Desirable - Demonstrable experience of leading prioritisation exercises and guiding senior teams through key decision-making processes

  • A qualified Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Practitioner

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and able to operate effectively at all levels of an organisation, including the Executive Team.

  • Experienced at Facilitation and workshop techniques

  • Communicate complex, potentially contentious issues to a broad audience

  • Provide appropriate challenge, at all levels, to ensure strategic plans are robust, well developed and evidence based

Strategic Planning

  • Understanding of Strategy development processes

  • Expertise in application of Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis techniques to support strategic decision making

  • Undertake complex problem solving, and draw conclusions from a complex set of information to inform short term (6 month) and longer term (3-5 year) strategic planning

Team Management

  • Significant line management experience, able to motivate, develop and performance manage your teams.

  • Experience of managing remote teams - we are a national organisation with teams dispersed across the length and breadth of England

  • Cover a wide geographic area, involving long distance travelling and some unsocial hours working

  • Act as a visible leader/role model for staff, and to develop relationships and working arrangements which are consistent with the mission and values of the organisation

  • Foster and promote partnership working with all staff, unions and managers. To conduct investigations and chair disciplinary, dispute and grievance hearings and appeals.
