Job Title: Warehouse / Forklift Operator
Location & Postcode: Southampton, Hampshire (PO15)
Salary: £17,000 per Annum + Overtime
Our client operates a daily groupage service to the Channel Islands, they are looking for an experienced Forklift Operator preferably with experience of loading groupage trailers. Shifts between 0700 – 1900 hours Monday to Friday, own transport, the position requires manual handling and lifting as well as forklift operations.
Warehouse / Forklift Operator - Main purpose of the job:
To receive, handle and dispatch cargo in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company operational procedures and statutory requirements including Health & Safety to the satisfaction of clients and the profit of the company.
Warehouse / Forklift Operator - Key tasks:
• Correctly receive, handle and dispatch cargo from vehicles / warehouse in a timely and efficient manner.
• Inspect cargo condition, complete necessary paperwork reporting any damage and discrepancies.
• Ensure legislative compliance in all areas.
• Ensure that the company operates within all agreed operational procedures, and within statutory requirements including the provision and maintenance of a safe working environment.
• Perform visual inspection of mechanical handling equipment and report any faults.
• Assess condition of vehicle to be loaded to ensure it is safe and suitable for its purpose.
• Ensure all relevant administration procedures are followed and completed.
• Work within Health & Safety regulations as well as within those stated in IMCO / ADR requirements, notify / take action where necessary.
• Fulfil company policy on security and quality.
• Maintain a good working environment in a safe and tidy manner.
• Contribute to shift ensuring good team work.
