This is a fantastic opportunity to join an international web development agency specialising in e-commerce, retail software systems, online marketing and design services. They are renowned for their ground-breaking Internet software and practical and efficient solutions. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Database Administrator to join the central development team within the agency.

Location: Nottingham

Role: SQL DBA

Responsibilities:

· Member of development team responsible for all database related items

· Work closely with the Technical Architects to define and implement best practice for database schemas

· Produce best practice and database standards documents for the development and customisation teams

· Provide Database monitoring to identify issues early and resolve problems in critical situations

· Work closely with the developers to advise on query optimization and database connection code

· Define standards for client database implementations, including backup strategies, maintenance plans and any other relevant areas

· Assist the implementation team to install and check database installations for clients, including providing automated tools to aid this process

· Advise and provide automated tools for server migrations and upgrades

· Assist on support problems related to database performance or stability

· Provide best practice guidance for database logging on client sites (e.g. for performance, stability etc.)

· Work directly with clients to provide general advice and troubleshooting for problems

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills focused around Microsoft SQL and web application servers. Your ability to handle multiple complex situations rapidly and intelligently and your ability to learn will be ranked highly.

The individual will ideally be a graduate in a technology based degree and have 2 or more years' commercial experience of deploying, managing and/or maintaining databases with SQL Server.

The successful candidate will have good communication skills, be enthusiastic and have strong initiative. A flexible 'hands-on' approach to dealing with technical issues is a necessity due to the rapid development approach within the agency.

The candidate must be a UK resident and live within a commutable distance to the head office near Nottingham.
