The Hillingdon Refugee Support Group is a registered charity and Limited Company established in 1996 with charitable objects of welcoming and providing care and practical support to young unaccompanied asylum seekers and refugees aged 16-21 years in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The beneficiaries are all looked after unaccompanied refugees and asylum seekers aged 16-21 who have come to Britain seeking refuge/asylum.
Our aims are broadly outlined in our mission statement which is as follows;
Mission statement:
To bring, hope, dignity, and empowerment to unaccompanied refugees and asylum seekers aged 16-21 (up to 23 if still looked after) in Hillingdon. To work with individuals regardless of background, providing a welcome reception and both care and practical support in order to enhance their quality of life.
The Hillingdon Refugee Support Group wishes to appoint suitable individuals with demonstrable experience for the following posts funded by: The National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund and the Hillingdon Community Trust:
YOUTH WORKER (x2): Salary of £12.50 per hour, 16 hours per week.
- Are you passionate about working with young people and their development?
- Do you have a sound understanding and demonstrable experience of issues affecting unaccompanied young asylum seekers and refugees?
- Are you self-motivated, proactive and a good communicator?
- Are you able to work under pressure and on your own and effectively as part of a dynamic team?
- Are you willing to work some evenings and occasionally accommodate flexible working?
If so, we can offer you a challenging and exciting opportunity delivering youth-led projects and outreach for young people aged 16-21.
You will be expected to provide targeted support to young people and have a proven track record in designing and developing youth projects and have experience of working in schools / educational establishments and community based initiatives. You will be expected to work collaboratively with multi agencies and have a detailed knowledge regarding issues affecting refugees and asylum seekers.
Please note the following are required for the role:
- a recognised UK youth work qualification
- A full driving licence, valid to drive in the UK and use of a car.
The post-holders will be based at our office in West Drayton, and will be expected to deliver the project at various locations within the London Borough of Hillingdon.Further details about the post and how to apply can be found on the Job Vacancies page of our website
