Symfony Developer
A globally renowned organisation within the digital and publishing space are looking for a Symfony Developer to join their world class team.
The selected developer will work within an Agile team to create robust, scalable features for the organisations editors, stakeholders and our customers. This organisation believe in cross functional teams that work together to create technically sound Products. Products that meet the needs of the business as voiced by the Product Owner and the needs of our customers. They work with their editorial team to develop the tools that allow them to create the news, analysis, and opinion for which we are famous.
As a developers, you will have a responsibility to the codebase, ensuring that it is clean, performant, and able to adapt to the changing needs of the business. Many of Symfony's most talented developers have contributed, making the codebase into a stellar example of enterprise Symfony. This year, they are moving towards a service oriented architecture, build systems that promote content re use, and incorporate best of breed systems into our platform.
Responsibilities:
Take ownership of parts of the code, advising on test coverage, security, performance and architecture utilising standards compliant Web (HTML, JavaScript, PHP, SQL and CSS)
Identify, review and configure Symfony community modules to deliver the required products
Creating new custom modules when necessary to enhance Symfony core or community features
Participate in code reviews and resolving change requests
Manage complexity and technical debt within the codebase by encapsulating, abstracting and refactoring
Produce technical documentation
Create automated tests
Learn new technologies and apply them to projects
To apply for this role you must have experience building features with Symfony along with experience developing custom modules
Other must have skills, experience and knowledge:
Professional experience building application and features in Symfony for a large scale websites
PHP programming knowledge
Experience writing and optimising SQL queries
Experience using Drush and creating custom drush commands
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Experience with distributed version control systems (Git)
You will be able to demonstrate experience with:
Varnish
PHPUnit
Selenium
Media websites
