Job Title: Support Worker

We are looking to appoint a number of Support Workers for our services in North and South Manchester.

Hours: Permanent Full (36 hours per week) or Part time. Bank Staff also required: Working flexibly to meet service needs, including shift work, nights and weekends.

Job Summary: To support adult service users who have learning disabilities, communication difficulties and behaviours which challenge, to maximise their potential to lead an ordinary life.

Key Tasks: To work as part of a team enabling service users to exercise choice and develop/maintain their independence.
Supporting service users involvement in as much of their daily living as possible, bathing, dressing, preparing & eating meals, maintaining their own living areas, attending health appointments, days out and holidays etc.

Working as an associate key worker, ensuring the service user maintains contact with family and friends (where this is what the person wishes); ensuring the service user has sufficient clothing available. Assisting in information for reports and attending meetings where appropriate.

Follow policies and procedures if required to administer medication. Ensure that agreed care plans are carried out following the guidance contained within them.

Administer medication when required following medication policy and procedure. Ensuring accurate completion of records where required, e.g. daily records, financial transactions whilst supporting service users. Ensuring that any incidents of concern are reported to a senior member of staff.

Contribute ideas to improve the way we support service users.

Act in a positive and professional manner at all times whilst representing the company.

Maximising your own personal development by engaging in induction, on-going training, supervision and annual appraisal.

Other tasks and responsibilities may be asked of the post holder in line with their competence and experience.
