Nursery Nurse Bank Staff (0 hour contract, hours are ad-hoc) with an essential NVQ level 2/3 in Childcare / equivalent or higher and previous experience. GBP7.21 - GBP7.69 per hour.
Reports to: Nursery Manager
Location: Kids Inc Day Nursery

Overall Purpose: To provide high quality care, positive experiences and learning opportunities for all of the children attending the nursery, in accordance with Kids Inc Nurseries policies and procedures. To deliver a highly effective childcare service to all customers within the nursery.

Kids Inc Nurseries Practice
- To assist in developing and maintaining an attractive, educational play environment in the line with Foundation Stage Curriculum and Birth to Three Matters Framework.
- To promote children's intellectual, physical, emotional and social development and contribute towards meeting children's needs within the nursery day for security, nourishment, stimulation and rest.
- To contribute to the record keeping and planning cycle in order to ensure that children receive individual consideration, access and developmentally appropriate action towards promoting their development needs. Take responsibility to regularly complete own 'key' children's records within agreed timescales.
- To work proactively within the staff team to identify and take responsibility for actioning activities that promote and extend the children's learning and experiences.
- To use initiative in order to create a seamless approach to the nursery day, ensuring that routine tasks do not interrupt the children's concentration or enjoyment of the experience.
- To recognise the contribution of self-development to personal, team and organisation aims.
- To recognise the influence of own practice for learners within the nursery unit and contribute to the development of learners through consistent expert role modelling.
Health and Safety
- To ensure current knowledge and practical understanding of Kids Inc Nurseries health and safety policies and procedures.
- To practice proactively within the guidance at all times, demonstrating a paramount commitment to the safety of the children.
- To ensure that the nursery environment is well presented.
- To ensure that each area within the nursery is sufficiently well maintained to reflect a sate and stimulating environment.
- To take responsibility for identifying maintenance requirements to the manager.
- To encourage the children to understand and participate in promoting their own well being as well as that of others.
Service Delivery
- To establish positive and cooperative relationships with children, parents, carers and their families.
- To communicate effectively and positively with parents and carers, providing them with accurate information about the experiences and achievements of their children.
- To display a positive and professional image to parents, carers, families, colleagues, Visitors and external agencies.
- To consistently ensure that each member of the staff team, the children and their families are valued and that own practice is non-judgmental.
- To challenge others whose practices do not comply with Kids Inc Nurseries policies and procedures.
- To understand the boundaries of confidentiality and practice professionally within them at all times.
The Nursery Nurse will be expected to work in a flexible way and as part of the team.
