Martin is a young man Enable provide support services to in his own home in Coatbridge. Martin has a learning disability and has support in his home 24 hours per day. Martin has Autistic Spectrum Disorder and requires support to manage his day to day living with this. Martin requires people who support him to understand and respect the way he views his world and provide him support in a specific way in which he understands and is comfortable with.

Martin enjoys a busy life and spends much of his time on activities throughout his week. Martin has an inquisitive nature and has a passion for knowledge and facts and loves spending time talking and finding out about new things. As part of Martins support team a huge part of providing support to Martin his to interact with him in a way he understands and enjoy. Martin requires to have a very distinct approach to supporting him and needs to be surrounded by confident people.

As part of the support team working with Martin you will be required to participate in regular team meetings and take part in support planning and development of on-going strategies for Martin ensuring that a high level of support is achieved as his life changes and evolves.

Martin has his own car and so it is essential that people that support him hold a full driving licence enabling them to drive his car.

The hours for this position can be different each week so it is important that you are flexible and able to adapt to the changes required each month.

It is important to me that you are able to drive and are fit and healthy as I like to go for walks in my wheelchair. I also like to keep to a healthy diet and you should have awareness of healthy eating.

You should have excellent communication abilities and be perceptive and aware of others needs.

Family are very important to me and it is important that you share these values. I enjoy watching films, music and singing.

It would be beneficial that you have an understanding of dementia and stress and distress.

We are looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to support an individual who lives within the Mastrick - North Field Area

This role is involves supporting a fun loving young man, who lives in his own home. He enjoys a high standard of living and accesses many facilities in the local community and requires support from his Personal Assistant team on a 24 hour basis. It is desirable that you will have a good knowledge of the local area with strong abilities in community connecting and inclusive networking to support this gentleman in meeting his outcomes.

You should be experienced in dealing with the challenges that life brings on a day to day basis and have a professional approach to your work with the ability to take a light hearted view at times. It is essential that you have excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to delivering support. An interest in out door activities would be desirable in order to support this young man to live an active lifestyle. Patience and a friendly approach is also essential.

Experience of working with people with learning disabilities would be an advantage. A knowledge and understanding of autism and positive behaviour support is also desirable. However, if you have the right attitude we can provide the appropriate training. Applicants must share our values and be able to work well in a team and on their own. A driving licence is essential although access to a car is not.

The hourly rate of GBP7.80 has an additional Aberdeen City Weighting of GBP0.60 which will take this hourly rate to GBP8.40
