Engineer x2 (Highway Maintenance)
36 Hours Per Week, Permanent Bootle, Merseyside.
£27,924 - £30,978 Scale: H SCP 32 - 36
Job requirements:
We are seeking to recruit to two full time posts of Engineer within the busy Highways Development and Design Team (Investment Programmes and Infrastructure) based in Magdalen House, Bootle. The Section is responsible for the delivery of Section 38 and Section 278 Highways Act 1980 agreements with developers, design and delivery of highway infrastructure schemes, as well as management and delivery of highway structures within Sefton. The Engineers will be responsible for producing designs, assessments, reports, drawings and contract documents for Civil Engineering works and assisting with the supervision of Civil Engineering schemes on the public highway an associated developments. Assistance with the technical approvals process for developers’ planning applications will also be required.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Preparation of design and contract documents for Civil Engineering works including road improvements, traffic signal junctions, traffic management measures and other development projects.
Preparation of technical documents for Civil Engineering projects utilising specialist CAD and modelling software.
Preparation of technical reports and studies throughout the design process, from
conceptual design through to construction.
Assisting with contract management and site supervision of works designed by the team.
Financial management of projects, including developing fee proposals, estimating
works cost estimates and agreement of final accounts, post construction.
Liaising with other departments in the Council and with external organisations
(including the councillors, parish councils, utilities bodies, developers) and with
members of the public.
The successful candidates should have knowledge and experience in highways or general civil engineering projects, including project management skills. A good
knowledge of DMRB standards, financial management and report writing is essential, along with client liaison skills. With computer literacy you will be able to work without supervision and will have the drive and determination to meet targets. requirements of the position in your application form.
