Technical Infrastructure Designer - Southampton - GBP55,000 - GBP65,000

As a Technical Infrastructure Designer you will be responsible for producing infrastructure technical designs to support the business in line with the group's technical strategy and market developments.

You will be accountable for ensuring that infrastructure, particularly in complex projects is cohesive end to end such that all components interoperate properly to deliver the requirements.

The role of Technical Infrastructure Designer will entail you being responsible for collating the technical input from specialists and services specialists and formulating the group's infrastructure roadmap and management agreement.
This is an incredibly exciting opportunity as you will be responsible for generating infrastructure designs in response to business and project requirements and collating, maintaining and driving technical roadmaps which support the group's strategy and deliver robust services at increased value.

You will have ownership for overall infrastructure design aspects of projects assigned, working closely with other SME's, architects, infrastructure build, project management and IT services to endure standard solutions which comply to strategy and policy as an End to end solution across a number of technical disciplines.

Key Activities:

-Supporting the delivery of projects
-Creation, presentation and agreement of designs
-Provision of expert advice across all areas of infrastructure to ensure that appropriate technical solutions are delivered
-Production of end to end design
-Acting as an expert in the design and deployment of IT solutions and a Co-ordinator to pull together designs from disparate technical specialists into one cohesive solution
-Consulting on, input and development of infrastructure strategy, IT strategy, roadmaps and standards
-Defining and monitoring consistency across all OpCos ensuring designs comply with group strategy and standards
-Working with domain and enterprise architects to achieve programme consistency
-Assisting project managers in creating and maintain project plans and technical Governance
-Lead solution options evaluation for technical deliverables
-Leading and facilitating with colleagues and customers, feasibility and risks of potential solutions and support creation of project mandates
-Maintaining awareness of IT and industry trends and benchmarks
-Working with 3rd party services, delivery partners and external vendors to deliver solutions
-Reviewing designs, identifying opportunities for developing shared platforms and services, simplification and cost reduction
-Responsible for producing infrastructure designs for the group in the UK, continental Europe, Russia and China
-Projects delivered ranging from GBP20k to GBP5M

Skills Required

-Approximately 5 - 10 years knowledge and experience of leading and directing technical design in a complex mixed Microsoft and Unix environment.
