Analyst Programmer

As an Analyst Programmer you will work within the medical informatics team utilising your expertise in C# development and excellent knowledge in SQL Server databases. You will develop bespoke departmental applications working closely with clinical end users in our department and also maintain a number of components within EMIS Web - the UK's most widely used healthcare software.

Role Responsibilities

As part of our product portfolio we produce a number of market leading databases driven by and maintained by our internally developed software applications.

You will work with NHS data such as the dictionary of medicines and devices (dm+d), SNOMED and READ, incorporating these into EMIS applications.

  • Development and enhancement of department applications providing our pharmacists and clinicians with tools to maintain national and international data.
  • Development of supporting SSIS packages and SSRS reports.
  • Engage in projects involving the development of software applications.
  • Become involved in all phases of the software development cycle.
  • Taking responsibility for the accuracy, stability and performance of databases and associated code.

Essential skills and experience

  • IT related degree
  • Excellent development skills, minimum 2 years commercial experience
  • C#, .NET, Winforms, OOP
  • SQL Server 2005/2008R2/2012, T-SQL
  • Linq, XML
  • Source code control systems and practices eg Team Foundation Server (TFS)
  • Good problem solving, team working and communication skills.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience of Clinical Systems.
