Information Security Manager - Berkshire (Newbury)

The role

This is a brand new exciting opportunity to pioneer the information security function within rapidly expanding infrastructure team. This role will sit within the IT team but also act as the main point of contact for Information security consultations throughout the wider business. The ideal candidate will have worked in a similar function with multiple stakeholders and have a passion for driving information security forward, whilst keeping up to date on the latest technologies and developments in this field.

Key responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the identification and response to security threats by proactively managing the configuration and monitoring of security devices, web applications, Firewalls, anti-virus, data encryption, network access control and remote access to the organisation's core data.
  • Accountable for technical escalation for incidents, liaising with other departments/3rd party support partners as required, resolving issues within the defined Service Line Agreements and work within ITIL best practice.
  • Plan, develop, deploy, test and optimise the infrastructure systems and services, taking responsibility for configuration management of security systems, and overall operational readiness of systems and services, providing troubleshooting and fault-finding services for all related infrastructure problems.
  • Advise on the provision of all infrastructure systems or services in accordance with IT policies, best practice and any compliance requirements.
  • Accountable for the compliance of IT Change guidelines in all related amendments and updates to environments.
  • To complete system upgrades and planned works (out of hours if required).
  • Undertake research and development of current technologies to identify potential solutions whilst keeping abreast of new technologies and project manage as required to ensure any new technologies are deployed in a controlled manner.
  • Acting as a resource for colleagues with less experience, applying expert product knowledge and skills to solve a wide range of standard and non-standard situations proactively identifying any coaching and training requirements to facilitate team growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Represent Information Security at internal meetings and external events.
