My client is a large manufacturer of automotive parts, supplying components to many major names within the automotive industry.

Due to a re-structure within the company they are now looking to recruit an experienced Production Planner on a permanent basis to join their manufacturing plant based in Wiltshire.

The main function of the role of Production Planner is to effectively plan materials and production within the plant.

Duties

* To receive and analyse customer schedules and to refer major changes to the Logistics Manager
* To interpret customer schedules and translate them into manufacturing plans capable of meeting company & customer requirements at lowest cost
* To observe daily attainment of manufacturing plans and expedite accordingly
* To maintain finished goods & raw materials stock at target stock levels or in accordance with specific customer and company requirements
* To generate and issue picking lists in accordance with customer delivery requirements
* To confirm delivery has been accepted via proof of delivery note or EDI link
* To monitor daily delivery performance of products to customers and goods from suppliers
* To analyse any stock discrepancies through perpetual checks and take appropriate actions
* To ensure that all products planned are approved for manufacture
* Liaise with Sales Executives and Programme Managers with regards to the introduction of new products and or the phasing out of old. (Including running changes)
* Liaise with accounts on invoicing or payment queries
* To fully incorporate MMOG into working methods
* To issue schedules to relevant suppliers on a weekly basis
* To check and maintain accurate records of customer owned packaging where required
* To manage the creation of supplier packaging specification for all production components.
* Participating or leading in Continuous Improvement Projects;
* To provide a flexible work load within the team, if required , being able to manage with supplier requirements planning;
* Reviewing MRP requirements to ensure component deliveries are scheduled in line with production requirements; reviewing and issuing purchase schedules and making necessary changes to requirements and to refer major changes to the Logistics Manager
* Managing day to day procurement activities including internal and vendor communications; negotiating schedule and delivery changes with vendors; negotiating revised terms and special arrangements with vendors;
* To immediately respond to unforeseen supply failures working with supplier and site to deliver solutions to avoid manufacturing and customer line stops, mitigating any costs that can reasonably be avoided.

Skills/Experience Required

* Educated to degree level or equivalent level in Business, Logistics or Economics
* Experience in production and MRP Planning
* Analytical skills
* Understanding of transporting costs
* Highly computer literate
