An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Student Voice Coordinator to assist a Student’s Union in Southwest London in delivering information to students who need support and guidance relating to academic and educational issues. The successful Student Voice Coordinator will work full time for a fixed term of 12 months, earning a salary of £23,386.

As a Student Voice Coordinator you will be the link between students and the university. In the majority of cases you will be helping resolve student issues (sometimes this may mean representing students who have a complaint or grievance against the university), while working to highlight the need for feedback amongst students and develop a more pro-active support service resulting in fewer cases. The successful Student Voice Coordinator will report to the university’s Membership Services Manager, and your core duties will include:
  • Advising, supporting and guiding students who have academic problems
  • Keeping up to date with academic issues effecting students both institutionally and nationally, communicating good practice for students using all the mediums and opportunities available.
  • Directing the service to become more proactive in related areas through education, information and awareness. 
  • Developing essential working relationships with University staff and departments relating to academic. (Academic staff, Academic Advisors, Deputy University Secretary).
  • Ensuring the provision of professional, accurate and up-to-date academic information, resources and advice.
 The successful Student Voice Coordinator will be a great communicator with demonstrable experience in a similar educational role and should be educated to degree level or equivalent. As a Student Voice Coordinator you will possess the following skills and experience:
  • Experience of training staff or volunteers
  • Experience of working with a wide range of both internal and external contacts
  • Knowledge of working in a students’ union or HE/FE (desirable)
  • Experience with working with volunteers and students (desirable)
  • Previous experience as a representative in a Higher Education institution (desirable)
  • Knowledge and skills in IT and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of students’ unions and their activities (desirable)
  • Understanding the role of staff in a democratic organisation (desirable)
  • An empathy with students and students’ unions (desirable)
  • Commitment to personal development
