Key accountabilities
Accountable for the Solution Architecture & Costing of entire solutions for the customer account, in context of the business portfolio, standards and principles. Providing fast determination of multiple business requirements and providing most appropriate and best-fit solution architecture, design and costs to meet the business requirements. This is the premier solution role within the business. The owner of this role will be able to lead Big and Major deals on behalf of the UK business and internationally and deliver solutions from within and outside of portfolio subject to the guidance from opportunity consultants and Service and Production. The Lead DSM will be responsible for the Solution Category A deals.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Lead DSM will own the architectural design through the initial phases of the design (request, concept and high level), and handing over the design after customer order for detailed phases of the design to delivery management. You will ensure that your work is always of the highest industry standards and qualities as set by the business and meets agreed deadlines. You will be adaptable, changing your approach and methods to meet differing circumstances and audiences. You will be a recognised authority within the business. This is the most senior role requiring communication, negotiation and influencing skills at differing levels particularly with DSM Experts, Bid Managers, Sales Consultants, Enterprise Architects and Production locally and internationally within the business, customers and suppliers. As the senior member of the Solution Design team within a bid and a senior player in PSD you will be expected to lead improvement programmes and Key Performance Indicators in terms of systems, process and tools to improve the overall Quality, Speed and Cost of the business. The ability to form and maintain an excellent relationship and build and maintain a "trusted business advisor" status for account with the customer, while fostering strong internal relationships with Production and Sales. You will be able to present multiple solutions and articulate your chosen solution(s) with confidence and influence to your customers. The ability to plan and manage your time, good office and administration skills (Word, Viso, Powerpoint, timesheets, etc.) This role mandates the leadership of a team from production and other DSM Experts on a regular basis. This could include experts from third party partners. This includes the leadership of resources within the bid phase. The role will readily share and acquire knowledge end expertise with colleagues and other departments. - locally and internationally. The Lead DSM community will be expected to deputise for and support the Enterprise Architecture community. The Lead DSM will have the ability to identify opportunities for adding business value.

Skills/Experience Required
* Solution Architecture or Delivery Service Manager experience. Broad level of knowledge across enterprise ICT technologies, ideally will have depth of experience in one or more specialist enterprise technologies. Commercially aware, managing costs on own projects and across team and very large projects.

Creates formal networks internally and externally. Is able to present complex ideas, concepts and technical solutions to high level non technical audiences.. Is able to anticipate potential objections and prepares case accordingly.. Is able to influence others, and has strong interpersonal skills.

Time Management - Self & Other.
Acts as a facilitator and mentor to more junior members of team and others within the organisation.. Experience of Portfolio development. Applies knowledge and skills to deal with complex problems, extending and coordinating work that may extend beyond own area of knowledge and expertise

Qualifications and Technical Requirements.
Recent experience in customer facing solutions architecture. Ideally holds industry qualifications (eg TOGAF, Prince2, ITIL, soft skill courses and training, etc). Reporting skills. Proven team leader skills and disciplines. Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent. Proven broad level knowledge of enterprise technologies such as;. Unix, Microsoft and Linux operating systems. Virtualisation technologies. VoIP and IPT technologies. Web and application container technologies (Apache, Tomcat, J2EE, Weblogic, etc). WAN, LAN, MAN. SAN, NAS, DAS. Data Centre technologies. Desktop technologies (Active Directory, Exchange, SMS, Altiris, F&P, etc). Security and security concepts (Firewalls, DMZs, etc). HA and DR approaches (Storage level, OS level and application level clustering, stretch clustering, A/A, A/P, synchronous and asynchronous, etc)
