Protecting the nation's defences takes more than you might realise.

We currently employ some 2,700 people. They are all focused, dedicated and passionate. Every one of them passes through rigorous training, which tests their ability to cope under pressure and work well in a team, as well as handle firearms responsibly. Why? Because the safety of our community depends on it.

If you have stamina, vigilance, great customer service skills and exceptional resilience, you could join us in protecting the nation's defence and infrastructure sites. It could be the start of a very rewarding career. You'll work at some of the UK's most important defence and national infrastructure sites as you progress and make your mark on the Force. Ideally, you will also have a minimum of 2 GCSEs grade A-C or equivalent in Maths and English, although this is not essential.

The main focus will be on MDP employing new recruits in Scotland, with a smaller number of vacancies available across England. However, there is also a limited opportunity, if you're a qualified Authorised Firearms Officer (AFO) from another Force, or have a background in Marine Policing. We can offer you a wealth of options for your future. Whether you come to us as a new recruit or transferee from another Force, you'll be able to specialise your skills and really define your contribution.
