LISC (London International Study Centre), an independent tutorial college in Surbiton offering GCSE, A level programmes, English language and after-school tuition to domestic and international students, would like to appoint a full time (40 working hours a week) Public Relation Officer for Overseas Market. The successful candidate will be local and have previous experience of working in a school based environment. High quality of English together with a good practical knowledge of Microsoft Office and sound administrative skills would be required, as well as knowledge of either Chinese, Korean or Japanese. The ability to multi task and provide a high level of customer service within an international environment is essential.

This is a customer focused role in which you will liaise with internal staff and external clients, thus requiring a friendly and positive attitude. Working as part of a busy team, you will need to be able to organise and prioritise your own work, exercise initiative and work well under pressure.

You should have a good educational background, experience of administrative work in an education setting, experience of MS Office and excellent written and oral communication skills.

Main duties:

  • participating in raising awareness of LISC among educational establishments locally and abroad and further developing domestic and overseas partnerships
  • assisting with PR to families, students, schools, agents
  • organising promotional events such as open days, tours and visits
  • fostering community relations through events such as open days and through involvement in community initiatives
  • preparing the production of presentations, leaflets, reports, publicity brochures, photographs, information for web sites and promotional videos
  • researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media
  • planning, developing and implementing PR strategies
  • helping with LISC newsletter
  • driving forward a strategic approach to PR and social media, working with the marketing team to coordinate PR activity to achieve the objectives of the team as well as the business plan
  • developing relations with overseas media
  • delivering strategic PR campaigns focusing on key areas of promotion fitting with the current marketing strategy
  • developing and working in accordance with the company vision and values
  • helping with all aspects of the admissions process
  • coordinate regular communications with stakeholder groups through emails, newsletters and website content
  • helping with strategic overseas marketing and development planning
  • assisting with general office and welfare related duties as required by the Principal
  • Person specification:

    • Demonstrate a strong track record of working within the media sector, and understanding of how to build relationships with diverse range of media - desirable
    • A minimum two years of working in a busy environment - essential
    • Experience of managing production of newsletters and magazines - desirable
    • Experience in writing promotional material, publicity organizing and public speaking - essential
    • Experience of working in education in the UK - essential
    • Fluent spoken and written English plus either Chinese, Korean and/or Japanese language - essential
    • Excellent knowledge of UK education system - essential
    • Highly developed organisational, analytical and problem solving skills
    • Ability to work as a part of a team as well as unsupervised
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
    • Demonstrated personal characteristics of initiative, self-motivation and enthusiasm
    • Experience of building up relationship with internal stakeholders despite remote location
    • Willingness to be flexible in terms of working hours

    Education level:

    A degree in one of the following essential: Journalism, Marketing, PR, International Business or Communications

    Salary

    Starting salary: 21,000 p.a.
