Main Purpose of role/Position summary

To implement UI designs to a high standard to specification, on-time and on-budget. The UI Developer will be involved in all development lifecycle stages and support our external customers when necessary.

 

Job responsibilities:

  • Implementation of UI components to required standard in technology appropriate to the product and domain.


  • Work with design team to translate the user experience and design elements into web application components.


  • Develop highly performant web interfaces using reusable component designs where appropriate.


  • Liaise with QA to support testing and resolve issues identified by them.


  • Assisting the Support, Consultancy and Service teams to manage customer specific issues.

Key Experience and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Track record in developing secure and highly performant commercial off-the-shelf web applications.


  • Disciplined and self-motivated in delivering high-quality software.


  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject (Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics) or equivalent substantial practical experience.


  • Strong understanding of loose coupling design patterns and when to apply them.


  • Proficient at rapid prototyping.


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


  • 6+ years of web application software development experience (ASP.NET, web services, jQuery, JavaScript, Angular - Backbone or equivalent, CSS, XML, HTML).


  • Working knowledge of database development (RDBMS, NoSQL, etc.)


  • Solve complex design problems with enthusiasm and creativity.


  • Work within small multi-disciplinary teams to agreed specifications.


Desirable:

  • Experience creating wireframes, storyboards, user and process flows.


  • Certification in secure software development practices (ISC2 CISSP, SANS CSSLP, etc.)


  • Experience working with Agile methodologies.


  • Implemented responsive design layouts.


  • Experience implementing UI components which are easily testable.


  • Working experience of the Microsoft Entity Framework or similar ORM platforms.


  • Web application development which serves thousands of users.


  • Ability to design load and performance test cases.


  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, Gimp, or other graphics products.


  • Experience converting graphic designs into UI components.


  • Experience working within a variety of expert domains and industries.


Expectations

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Collaborate with product management and the software engineering team to implement product features.


  • Suggest implementations which the technology set can accommodate that closely matches the design goals of the product.


  • Create rapid prototypes to effectively evaluate designs and features prior to full development.
