Lead Software Engineer in Test

The Lead Software Engineer in Test will come from a technical testing background and possess excellent leadership qualities. The successful applicant will have the responsibility of ensuring best practice for the technical test approach across multiple projects whilst driving standards, improvements and innovation within the testing function, coaching, mentoring and line managing less experienced Software Engineers in Test.

Role Responsibilities

  • Perform functional and non-functional testing on EMIS products including but not limited to acceptance, stability, resilience, performance, system, integration, regression, usability, load, stress, compatibility, deployment and smoke testing.
  • Produce automated tests at the component, API/service and UI layers where appropriate, ensuring that continuous integration is maintained.
  • Identify and implement technical approaches to testing that allow acceleration and automation of the testing effort.
  • Identify technical opportunities to produce tools that enhance the productivity of the Development Department.
  • Undertake line management responsibility for the SEiT I, II and Senior SEiT roles, including performing 1:1s, appraisals, personal development plans and performance management where required.
  • Coaching and mentoring the SEiT I, II and Senior SEiT roles in technical test approach, technical test techniques, domain knowledge and skills required for the role.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years' experience in a technical testing or development role.
  • Previous experience in leading teams, defining test approach and the ability to span multiple projects where required.
  • Strong experience in all phases of automation (including UI), integration and non-functional testing.
  • Proven experience in defining technical test strategies across a variety of products and technology stacks.
  • Experience in leading on the implementation of new and future techniques such as ATDD, BDD.
  • Good programming skills (C#, ASP.NET, SQL desirable)
  • Strong knowledge and application of agile development approaches, particularly SCRUM, Kanban and agile testing techniques.
  • Experience of defining and implementing test automation frameworks across multiple technologies.
