Lockheed Martin Business Technology Solutions requires a Sales Manager with experience in developing and converting public sector IT sales opportunities. This position will be based from our Edinburgh or Glasgow office.

A DAY IN THE LIFE ..

Assessing a new opportunity; meeting a prospective customer; coordinating a team of technical and business professionals to build a response to tender; checking the progress of your market segment strategy; meeting an existing account; updating your sales pipeline .. if you can manage this workload while producing high quality outputs and results .read on.

You will be responsible for leading business development activities within new areas and existing accounts in the Scottish public sector. With a strong customer focus, you will identify new business opportunities in a range of IT disciplines including consultancy, software development, managed services and system integration. Working with colleagues you will assess and qualify these opportunities for strategy fit with Lockheed Martin, convincing technical and business stakeholders of the merits and benefits of the opportunity.

On qualified opportunities, you will work with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive the sales activity, responding to framework and public tenders through to successful award. This will include bid writing on small tactical opportunities and leading or contributing to a team effort on larger responses. You will also engage in supporting marketing and account management activities.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for someone from an IT services background with first-rate communication and negotiating skills. You will have a demonstrable track record in IT services sales and the ability to take total responsibility for business development life cycle activity. You will be at the stage in your profession where you are looking to take the next step towards accelerating your career.

You will have solid experience:

  • Of the public sector sales process; preferably tendering for opportunities
  • Of a 'solution' and 'consultative' sales process
  • Of managing a pipeline of sales opportunities, team priorities, resources and your personal time
