As a Senior Project Quality and Business Improvement Manager at Thales you will provide professional and effective quality assurance leadership across large rail projects. This role will be supporting the Project Director and will be a member of the project senior management team. This is a critical project role which will define, manage and coordinate the quality assurance activities for the Thales products, services and support being provided to the client.

Key responsibilities:


• Understand the client's requirements to enable the Senior Project Quality Manager to represent 'the voice of the customer 'during internal discussions to maximise customer focus
• Define and set up the quality plans in phase of bids and project
• Develop credible relationships across the project team to input into pragmatic solutions to eliminate / mitigate issues, risks. Knowing when it is appropriate to escalate topics.
• Proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and reducing the cost of poor quality
• Prepare monthly quality statistics, trend analysis and improvement opportunities
• Monitor and manage supplier quality performance in conjunction with procurement
• Attend and present salient information at weekly and monthly senior contract reviews including customer meetings to present quality trends and OTIS (opportunities, threats, issues & success)
• Facilitate and coach on root cause analysis activities across a wide range of topics on the project
• Overall responsibility for the coaching and development of the quality assurance team in order to ensure resources are trained and competent to perform their duties effectively
• Management and development of quality assurance departmental budget and resource estimates in line with company and project objectives
• Support local and corporate business improvement initiatives and programs; and cultivate continual improvement
• Provide the quality support and maintain an effective operational relationship between Thales' stakeholders including clients, consortiums, subcontractors, suppliers and the project team.


Skills, experience and qualifications:

• Solid experience in quality assurance and quality control management or a background in business improvement
• Experience in auditing and process development as well as root cause analysis
• Proven leadership experience in a matrix style organisation
• High level of enthusiasm with a desire to get the best result through partnering with the business
• Well-developed relationship building skills
• Considerable experience and working knowledge of QUENSH and good understanding of ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001
• Quality Auditor qualification
• Strong knowledge of computer tools including Microsoft Office Suite, databases and scheduling tools
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
