Description:
Thales Alenia Space (TAS) is looking to recruit a Family Buyer located in Bristol. The successful candidate will join our team focussing on in-direct spend, Purchase Orders or Contracts for our sites in Bristol and Harwell. The primary purpose of the Family Buyer will be to work across the various in-direct spend categories, sourcing and negotiating with suppliers and managing contracts ranging from GBP1K to GBP500K. The portfolio will be mainly General Expenses and EEE parts in coordination with other TAS entities and off-project purchasing activities.

The Family Buyer will undertake commercial and contractual tasks as required, including negotiation and agreement of Framework Agreements, Purchase Contracts, Statements Of Work and Non Disclosure Agreements.

Working closely with other functions as necessary, this role will also manage all purchasing aspects of delegated Bid and Project work packages, to ensure purchasing packages are executed in accordance with technical, program, cost and performance requirements.

Responsibilities
• Negotiate commercial terms and conditions for major supplier contracts with both local and international suppliers
• Work closely with the Contracts and Legal department to ensure contract compliance and limitation of risk, especially pertaining to cost and lead time
• Manage supplier relationships, ensuring continuous performance improvement and implementing the necessary action plans
• Carry out ongoing performance reviews and maintain an overview of subcontractor cost, quality and schedules
• Lead cost reduction efforts in support of TAS goals
• Ensure adherence to TAS and Thales processes and procedures, including export regulations, ethical procurement practices, and ITAR regulations
• Reduce the active supply base through outsourcing and supplier optimization
• Prospect for new, innovative sources of supply, working to gain a competitive advantage for TAS-UK
• Domestic and international (mainly European) travel required

Experience and Skills
• Previous experience as a commodity, procurement or purchasing manager in a global supply chain environment
• Commercially astute with advanced negotiation skills
• Proven knowledge of Contract law
• Ability to interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
• Knowledge of MS Office, including the ability to create MS PowerPoint presentations and MS Excel databases and pivot tables
• Experience in European Space Agency contractual legislation is desirable
• Previous experience in using ERP systems would be advantageous
• Communication and influencing skills to build productive relationships at all levels of the business, both internally and externally
• Degree qualified or equivalent is desirable
