Description:

ROLE:


• Undertake any ERP purchasing activities as instructed by Acquisition Project Manager (APM) or Purchasing Family Manager (PFM) in accordance with Thales UK governance documentation.
• Support Bids and Projects with the development of specific sourcing strategies.
• Support implementation through frameworks of Segment Family strategies.
• Undertake any purchase process activities required for Bids or Projects under the Manage Acquisition process.
• Expedite acquisitions to ensure deliveries meet Project programmes.
• Support Finance in ensuring prompt payment of supplier invoices.
• Support the PFM in managing and improving the supplier relationships, and maintain effective supplier communications to ensure performance and delivery.
• Provide a proactive and professional service to satisfy internal customers whilst maintaining adequate controls and safeguards which protect the Company's interests.
• Working closely with other functions as necessary, manage all purchasing aspects of delegated Bid and Project work packages, to ensure packages are executed in accordance with technical, program, cost and performance (quality and delivery) requirements. Manage risks and opportunities.
• Ensure effectiveness by employing suitable reporting, tracking and performance management tools and techniques.


Key Responsibilities:

To undertake tasks as and when directed by the Manager, Supply Management and Purchasing Performance Support the Assistant Project Manager (APM) in updating and maintaining the reporting systems
• Work with the relevant APM in implementing Acquisition Plan etc, to ensure the best purchasing practice.
• Provide support for strategic purchasing frameworks.
• To undertake purchasing activities in accordance with the Thales UK Purchasing Policy and Delegation of Authority.
• To undertake purchasing vet activities and contract negotiations.
• Negotiate optimum prices and deliveries with suppliers for equipment/materials and services purchased.
• Implement delivery/performance improvements with key suppliers jointly with internal customers.
• Support in managing suppliers relationships and maintain effective supplier communications to ensure performance and delivery, while adhering to Corporate Family Policy.
• Provide a proactive and professional service to satisfy internal customers whilst maintaining adequate controls and safeguards which protect the Company's interests.
• Provide reports and management information/data as required for purchasing and/or Corporate purposes.



Experience and Skills:


• Communication and presentation.
• Interpersonal at all organisational levels, internal and external.
• Relevant purchasing, commodity and category management experience.
• Contract law exposure
• Analytical skills.
• Technical and commercial Purchasing Family knowledge.
• Experienced in using ERP systems.
• Commercially astute with negotiation skills and experience.
• Self Starter with well-developed organisational skills .
• Major development/manufacture sub-contract program/project management experience.
• Experienced in purchasing related activities in support of bids/proposals .
• Technical and commercial Purchasing Family knowledge.


Education:


• Business or Engineering degree, or equivalent would be desirable
• MCIPS qualified or studying towards would be desirable
• High standards of numeracy and literacy.
