Description:
Thales' Avionics business have a new opening for a Business Development & Sales Manager to focus on driving the domestic and import market for our rotary & fixed wing military aviation product suite. The position of Business Development & Sales Manager for Military Avionics plays a critical role in the creation, identification, development and closure of profitable new business for the Military Avionics Domain.

The primary purpose of the role is to be focused on the creation, identification, development and winning of new profitable business opportunities for Military Avionics. This key role will take ownership of developing and closing new business opportunities both in the UK and the export market.

The jobholder will report to the Head of Business Development & Sales - Military Avionics. In addition, the jobholder will have important relationships with the following:-


• Customers
• Industrial partners
• Thales UK Business Development & Sales Team
• Thales International Team


Key Responsibilities:-

• To take the lead in the creation, identification and development of new business opportunities in a given market/region.
• To take ownership of the conversion of new business opportunities into profitable sales that will ensure achievement, or better, of the Military Avionics budgeted order intake and to achieve sustainable growth.
• To take the lead in managing key customer and related stakeholder relationships relating to the Domain.
• To be a key player within the bid team, ensuring timely planning and leadership of key business capture reviews and ultimately ensuring that a professional business winning proposal is submitted on time to the customer.
• To actively work with the Strategy and Marketing team, the Domain management team and existing/potential Customers to develop solutions which meet customer's key user requirements and budget aspirations, but which represent sound business prospects for the Domain.
• To take ownership of his/her Order Intake portfolio and to update the portfolio at least once a month, in close liaison with the Sector Management Teams, to reflect the latest Order Intake Forecast commitment in terms of time and value.
• To actively contribute to the preparation of the Strategic Business Plan, the Multi Year Budget and the formulation of associated product strategy for the Sector.
• To work closely with the Communications team to maximise the Political and PR Communications messages for the Sector and enhance awareness and promotion in conjunction with Thales Corporate, Global exhibitions, conferences and Industrial bodies


The successful candidate will have a background within either military or civil avionics with the capability to structure and manage complex integration sales. This experience may have been gained from sales, project management or contract management.
