Medical Negligence Lawyer

ROLE: To process the litigated medical negligence cases, ensuring that the same are conducted in a proactive and commercially focussed manner

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Appropriate levels of clinical negligence experience
  • High levels of litigation experience with case management skills
  • Good knowledge of computer case management processes.
  • Commercial focus
  • Excellent time management

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducting litigated medical negligence claims of varying value up to £500,000
  • The case will, at inception, proceed as per the case strategy set by the Senior Solicitor team and following assessment will be allocated to a Medical Negligence team member
  • To maintain regular contact with the designated senior solicitor to discuss procedural / evidential issues as required
  • To ensure that medical / special damage / future loss/ witness evidence has been appropriately collated prior to litigation
  • If there is a difference of opinion regarding a case between personnel, a meeting is to be arranged with the supervisor, to ensure case progress
  • Before any further medical reports are obtained, there shall be a discussion between the Senior Solicitor and Medical Negligence Lawyer to confirm and agree the strategy and choice of experts. As above, any disagreement between the Senior Solicitor and the Medical Negligence Lawyer, the file shall be referred to the supervisor to discuss the issues and agree the way forward
  • Once the case is ready for the commencement of proceedings, it will be transferred to the Medical Negligence Lawyer to manage the claim to its conclusion. This will be monitored by the team supervisor
  • The file handler will continue to liaise with Senior Solicitors until the conclusion of the claim as necessary to ensure the company policy and procedures are being upheld at all times
