BRIEF DEPARTMENT/FUNCTION DESCRIPTION:

The Device Integration Team are responsible making sure that all new devices are properly integrated with the TelefonicaUK network so that they are market ready and provide a great customer experience.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:

As Device Integration Engineer, you'll be working within the Radio Design and Test function, playing a key role in delivering the best device/ network experience for our customers.

The primary function of the role is to provide a strong technical focus to the assessment of new devices which are required for the Telefonica business.

RESPONSIBILITIES/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

The main responsibilities for this role are:

  • To provide technical engineering support in a team responsible for confirming the device to network compatibility for all new and updated 3G/4G devices.
  • To perform root cause analysis of issues found and ensuring compliance to internal and industry standards
  • To perform device testing at a radio protocol level and provide support to major device and network related projects
  • To provide technical support on device/network related issues to other teams e.g. Device Technical, Network Operations and Radio/Network Design areas
  • To assess and report on Performance and Capability for Telefonica Devices and confirm the device interaction at a detailed network and service level
  • To liaise closely with device and chipset vendors, technical account managers and other internal teams on delivery and defects to ensure fault resolution and process improvement

  • The required skills and experience are:

  • Detailed signalling protocol knowledge of LTE, UMTS and GSM interfaces between radio and core networks is required
  • Experience providing technical support for User Equipment (UE) network integration and test
  • Previous experience of NSN or Ericsson RAN
  • A working knowledge of IP network technologies e.g. TCP/IP as well as the ability to use Network Protocol Analysers, handset logging tools and test automation
  • Able to cope with conflicting requirements and work effectively under pressure across multiple projects and customer demands.
