Operations Manager


Location: West Midlands or London

Salary: £30,000 + pension + business mileage


Our client is a national not-for profit, small sum credit lender operating since 2010. Their loan officers help customers to access credit through tele-lending and face-to-face loans. Our client has two hubs which are based in Birmingham and Worcester, with further staff co-located within Housing Associations and satellite offices around the country.



They are looking for an individual experienced in managing staff at multiple locations, ensuring optimal performance at all times. A process-driven approach would best suit this role, along with an understanding of the needs of geographically widely dispersed staff members. A belief in The Company's mission and objectives is essential.



The Role:

As Operations Manager you will be responsible for the co-ordination of Company operations nationwide. To ensure the organisation is running as well as it can, with a smooth, efficient service that meets the expectations and needs of customers and other stakeholders.

• Cross-location operational performance management

• Maintain appropriate and compliant lending procedures and ensure all staff apply these at all times

• Manage quality and compliance programmes

• Develop and maintain business support systems

• Set and review budgets and manage costs

• Facility management

• Line management of two Portfolio Managers with regard to operational and general staffing matters

• Attend stakeholder meetings and contribute thereto as required

• Be the principle point of contact for our IT and software supplier in respect of training, maintaining good relations and resolving issues relating to the use of systems



The Person:

The successful Operations Manager will demonstrate the following skills, experience and expertise:

• Knowledge, experience and track record in the credit business

• Ability to manage and motivate staff at multiple locations

• Ability to devise and implement quality assurance processes

• Customer and stakeholder relationship management skills

• Excellent communication and listening skills

• Accuracy when working under pressure

• Flexibility and adaptability

• Strong time management

• Willing to work as part of a team in order to achieve results

• Willing to make sure work is undertaken to the highest quality possible and within deadline

• Respectful and professional towards customers, colleagues and partners

• Car owner with full, clean driving licence and willing to travel from base location to other office 1 day per week (e.g. if based in Birmingham, 1 day per week to be spent in London office or vica versa)

• Travel required to meet with Remote Loan Officers and Stakeholders to carry out audit and other administration duties as and when required
