Medication Technician (Dementia Care)

Salary: £8.90 per hour + benefits
Hours: Full-time (35 hours/week)

Working as part of the staff team at a prestigious care home in Weybridge, Surrey, the Medication Technician is responsible for administering medicines and treatments in accordance with company policies and procedures so that residents have their medicines at the times they need them and in a safe way.

Key duties and responsibilities of this role include;
• Administration of medicines as instructed
• Keeping up to date and accurate records of the administration of medicines
• Handling , storing, using and disposing of medicines safely and appropriately
• All duties of resident care as set out in the Care Assistant job description

Candidate requirements for this vacancy:

Essential
• Boots e –learning MDS
• Boots e – learning Care of Medicines Foundation Module
• Aged 18 or over
• Understanding consent
• Understanding confidentiality and the principles of Data protection

Desirable

• Accredited NVQ Level 2 or QCF Diploma in ‘Medicine Administration’
• Level 3 Training in the administration of medicines by specialised techniques
• Evidence of previous experience working with older people
• Evidence of good IT skills and confidence in computer based work
• Understanding the legal differences between types of drugs and the legal frame work that underpins the management of medicines

This position offers an hourly rate of £8.90 along with additional benefits including pension plan and life assurance.
