Embedded Software Engineer Glasgow £Neg and Reloc Commutable from Glasgow, Edinburgh Stirling   The company develops laser systems that are deployed in a wide variety of markets including renewable energy, microelectronics, fundamental research, life sciences and medicine.

Responsibilities include:

  • As part of their product development team, you will be responsible for coding and testing of their laser systems, ensuring reliable operations under all operating conditions.

    You will have proven practical experience in an industrial environment with strong C coding skills on embedded platforms using Real Time Operating Systems. 

  • Your work will involve embedded microcontroller based development and the various communication interfaces using windows based development tools. 

  •  

  • Your software product design knowledge will cover all stages from specification through to delivery

    Skills / Experience Essential Skills

  • Embedded software engineer with proven development experience (preferably in an industrial environment).

    Strong C coding skills on embedded platforms and algorithm development.

  • Familiar with 16/32 bit Microcontroller and board electronics architecture.

  • Field experience with Real Time Operating Systems.

  • Field experience with the use of Microcontroller interfaces, UART, CAN Bus, I2C, SPI, ADC and DAC.

  •  

  • Use of Windows based development tools and Version Control Systems.

     

  • Ability to respond to technical inquiries from other departments and customers in a clear, accurate, and professional manner (both written and in person).

     

  • Graduate calibre, able to work in a team environment and with minimum supervision.

     

Preferred additional Skills

 

  • Experience in closed loop drive control methods and techniques for industrial applications.

     

  • Knowledge of Object Oriented Programming.

     

  • Experience with Visual Studio IDE.
