What we`re looking for
This appointment represents a superb opportunity for a full or part CIPD qualified HR professional to join a dynamic and highly commercial team operating in the prestige motor retail sector You will work closely with the Jaguar Land Rover Operational Director and Farnell Divisional HR Manager to support the delivery of our Group HR strategy and its integration with the JLR brand. This position will be based from our Leeds or Bradford Land Rover dealership. however will cover 6 dealerships located along the M62 corridor from Leeds to Bolton.
You will be a graduate (or equivalent) with a HR generalist background and will have practical experience of managing disciplinary, grievance and performance management cases. You will also be an accomplished and organised administrator who is capable of driving actions and achieving deadlines. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to influence managers and their strategy and will work as a key part of a divisional management team to drive forward the people agenda. You will be expected to develop an excellent understanding of the JLR brand and how the Farnell business operates to ensure you are able to deliver sharp and commercially focussed advice. We are an inquisitive business and the successful candidate will be expected to partner with the HR team to manage acquisitions, TUPE transfers and terms and conditions harmonisation exercises on hence strong organisation and negotiation skills are paramount. This is role that will grow and develop as the Farnell business expands and is a great opportunity to make a mark.
We operate in a prestige, fast paced and vibrant environment so a tenacious and dynamic personality is essential. It is absolutely vital that you are able to provide advice that is risk based and commercially focussed to ensure you are a facilitator and not an obstacle to action or organisational change. It is likely that you will currently be working in a retail environment although this is not essential. It is expected that the successful candidate will be willing to undertake a business travel in order to effectively guide and support the dealership management teams in all people related matters.
Role & Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of this role are outlined below:
Attraction, Recruitment & Selection
To support, manage and facilitate recruitment and selection within the division. Entailing:
- To support and promote a robust and thorough selection process including the use of SHL online testing, Competency interviewing, management of job descriptions, use of interview structures and reference requests.
- To manage vacancies, head-hunt candidates and support selection and filtering.
- The management of internal talent progression and succession planning to ensure colleague are developed, recognised and promoted where appropriate in line with the JLR Career Pathways scheme.
- To take the lead on Farnell attraction and branding to ensure that the Farnell USP is leveraged.
- To control the delivery of assessment centres.
- To ensure legal compliance in all recruitment related activities including advertising and prevention of illegal working.
JLR Training and Development Management
- To control the relationship at an administrative and delivery level between Farnell business and the JLR Academy.
- To effectively plan employees onto courses and ensure the Company leverages the JLR training offering - To actively work with the Vertu Training department to ensure training is well coordinated.
On-Boarding an Induction
- To undertake Management and Non-Management inductions.
- To undertake fresh eyes meetings and exit interviews to ensure retention issues are identified and resolved quickly.
Performance Management
- To partner with the management team in the delivery of an effective performance management program to ensure high-quality performance is recognised and corrective action is taken where poor performance is uncovered.
- To actively monitor colleague performance data (including Sales Executive and Technician performance levels) and ensure corrective action is taken quickly with direction from the HR Manager.
Absence Management
- To actively monitor and work to reduce short term absence by coaching line managers in management techniques and intervening early to resolve issues or take necessary action with direction from the HR Manager.
- To identify and support manages with short term sick issues and, working with colleagues and our Occupational Health practitioner, ensure an productive, expedient and low risk resolution to the case.
Disciplinary & Grievance Management
- To deliver accurate and commercially sharp advice in relation to the management of disciplinary & grievance situations. To elevate to the HR Manager when necessary.
JLR Contract of Employment Creation
- To control the creation of JLR employment contracts and manage returned packs in line with Vertu procedures.
