We are currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Coastal Engineer to join our well-established and experienced team in our centrally located Basingstoke office.

Our Coastal team is involved with projects in the UK and internationally working for both internal and external clients. Our projects include the development of coastal management plans, strategies and project appraisals, the design of coastal defences and flood protection. We also undertake waterfront and port development studies, environmental impact assessments and met-ocean studies typically supported by numerical modelling of coastal processes.

As an Assistant Coastal Engineer you will make a major contribution to our feasibility and design projects working under established frameworks with the Environment Agency, local authorities and major industrial clients. Your main responsibilities will include the following:

* Provide technical input to coastal engineering studies.
* Prepare reports and technical notes.
* Manage own time to ensure successful delivery of projects.
* Undertake work within established quality management systems.
* Report to project managers on delivery of work.
* Participate in Continued Professional Development.

The following will be required for this role:

* Degree educated or equivalent in a subject covering elements of coastal engineering.
* An understanding of physical processes including waves, tides, hydrodynamics and sediment transport.
* Previous experience within coastal engineering and coastal management projects.
* Experience in areas such as the design of coastal defences, managed realignment schemes, beach recharge, overtopping, scour and wave loading assessments.
* Familiarity with software packages such as AutoCAD, MapInfo and MS Project would also be an advantage.
* Graduate ICE or CIWEM member - the successful candidate will be provided with the required opportunities and support for advancement to chartered status.
