Applicants are invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Operations Department within the Bulk Operations Terminal, based at the Port of Liverpool.
Role Purpose: To assist the operations Team Leader in fulfilling a multi-functional role, where duties will vary to meet operational requirements. To operate the Company's plant and equipment, ensuring all duties are conducted within a safe and efficient manner.

The role of the Operations Assistant will include the following responsibilities:

-Operate plant machinery, including a Skid Steer, Wheel Loader and Excavator Control of conveyor equipment
-Ensure Company machinery and the working area are kept clean and tidy and in line with Peel Ports Health and Safety standards
-Suggest tactical decisions to the team leader in order to stay on schedule with cargo loading/unloading
-Complete various paperwork using internal and bulk systems
-Inspect plant equipment and record damage - liaising with the necessary colleagues to ensure damage is addressed and repaired
-Deliver a safe personal working culture, under the Peel Safe System of Work

Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:

-General knowledge of bulk material handling methods
-Plant driving experience - ideally Front Loading Shovels and Skid Steers; full training will be provided where required
-Knowledge of conveyor belt systems and their control
-Willingness to work in dusty and dirty environments, within confined spaces and the ability to work at heights
-Understanding of food products and food safety standards
-Flexible approach to working hours; this role may involve weekend and night work
-Proven experience working within a Port/ industrial environment
- Full UK Valid Driving Licence is desirable
