About this Company
On offer is the opportunity to work for a European leader in digital transformation. The role comes with a competitive salary, the opportunity for further development and the potential for a wide and diverse career within Sopra Steria.
Sopra Steria is committed to establishing and maintaining a working environment which is free from discrimination and which values all employees as individuals. All employees and prospective employees are selected, recruited, trained and promoted solely on the basis of their skills and behaviour.
Key Responsibilities
- To prepare the monthly actual results (encompassing orders, revenue and profit), investigating and clearly explaining any forecast variances, and to communicate financial performance to the PC Manager, Client Director(s) and business teams as appropriate.
- To attend a meeting with the relevant Delivery or Project Manager and PFA each month (in person or by teleconference) to ensure that there is understanding and agreement between the business manager and the finance team on the finances of the project. The meeting should include a review of project costs to date and expected future changes.
- To prepare a robust forecast for the current financial year, identifying risks and opportunities, and also rolling into the new financial year. The forecast is to be grounded on assumptions well understood and agreed with the PC Manager and Management Team.
- To lead in the preparation and presentation of the annual budget of the Profit Centre to the Sector Director and Sector Financial Controller.
- To proactively review the Profit Centre's financial performance with a view to identifying and highlighting trends and issues to relevant senior management. For avoidance of doubt, FMs are responsible for the integrity of their balance sheets including unbilled and forward billed balances, all accruals and prepayments. FMs need to ensure proper controls are in place and that they carry out regular detailed reviews, working closely with the account PFAs.
- To monitor cash collection, ensuring Account Receivable levels are managed to agreed targets, working with the Credit Control Manager and the AR team. To ensure unbilled revenue is minimised as far as possible.
- To ensure correct set up of projects on Oracle, and monitor performance versus the sold model of new contracts to ensure the financials are on track, escalating any issues as soon as possible.
- To work proactively to prevent and manage project issues on Oracle, which contributes to the integrity of project data in Oracle. The FM has to work closely with the PFA to resolve and prevent these issues.
- To comply with, and manage compliance with internal control procedures and ensure all appropriate back up is made available to internal auditors, and PARC where appropriate.
- To produce and provide all required back up for external audit, including completion of the standard audit schedule template. To contribute to any papers required by external audit, as appropriate. There may be direct liaison with external audit at the discretion of the Sector Financial Controller.
- Critically review POs requested by the delivery team and approve or decline in accordance with ProcureOne rules.
- To provide financial support on smaller bids and CCNs which are run in the profit centre, and to provide input and review to bids modelled by the central commercial finance team.
