Commercial Manager - Post Contract
London
We are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to deliver best practice contract management for major Transportation projects in the UK. You will be an integral part of the business signing commercially robust contracts in the pre-contract phase and ensuring that obligations are met, contractual risk is appropriately managed and ultimately winning new business through maximising our opportunities.
The technology and systems expertise offered by Thales's Transportation team powers safe, reliable and efficient services to rail networks the world over. In the UK, we deliver advanced signalling, supervision and control, integrated communications, security and information systems for urban rail, mainline rail and road networks. And as we continue to grow our business, we need more talent to join us in making our cities better.
Key responsibilities:
Take direct responsibility for commercial matters on a range of designated Project/s through the delivery and support phases of both current and future projects
Ensure that the commercial objects of the business are achieved and initiatives for commercial procedures are recommended/implemented and adhered too
Give advice and recommendations to the projects under their remit and as directed by the Senior Commercial Manager on commercial issues, risks, liabilities and opportunities
Provide guidance on terms and conditions for the benefit of the broader project team and maintain awareness of best commercial practice
Offer support to senior management and where required participate in commercial negotiations with the customer, consortium partners and in conjunction with Procurement, sub-contractors and other 3rd parties
Respond to and negotiate customers proposed contractual agreements such as Deeds of Variation and Contract Changes' and support in the management of such changes
Identify and manage issues and disputes arising with customers in conjunction with the Legal function.
Skills, qualifications and experience
Knowledge of general and specific contractual Terms and Conditions, including NEC and PTI contracts
Understand business models, strategies, financials and customer relationship management
Understand contract and other relevant law
Risk Identification, Governance & Management - know how to identify, describe, quantify, evaluate opportunities and risks and to participate in decision making by proposing
To know relevant accounting, finance and tax principles
To know how to negotiate according to situation (knowing, determining and applying negotiation strategies)
