GBP45,000 - Senior PHP Developer - MVC - Frameworks, JavaScript Job
Yoh Solutions Ltd are currently recruiting for a Senior PHP Developer for a Digital Agency located in Maidenhead. This is an excellent opportunity for any experiecned developers who would be looking to progress into Lead position and join a growing and talented creative team.
You will be working with the new innovative proprietary CMS, which has been developed using modern Laravel frameworks and contemporary design approaches.
A key part of this role will be working with the Legacy CMS, working on the strategic aim to rebuild a vast portfolio of sites onto the new CMS. This will involve refactoring of old code and the development of the new product, helping the System Architect to direct the development flow and identify new and innovative ways to deal with the development of new client requirements.
Mandatory requirements
- - Candidates must have commercial experience in Object Oriented Design and Modelling
- MVC Frameworks
- PHP Frameworks such as Zend, Symfony or Laravel
- Solid understanding of and experience with deploying technical design methodologies (such as Pattern Based Design)
- LAMP
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery
Candidate must be able to demonstrate that they:
- - have a reasonable understanding of pattern based web development
- provide basic evidence that they can apply this knowledge in a practical application
- their ability to articulate knowledge of the above (in order to help the existing team develop)
Responsibilities
Work with the existing development team, as a knowledgeable and key contributor, to produce new functionality for the new and Legacy CMS and to help maintain the technical infrastructure of the systems.
- - Provide adhoc support for Front End coding tasks (such as client side coding, API development and email coding).
- Own development tasks relating to new functional project work, enforcing design and development standards and guiding the team with knowledge and expertise in best practice approaches to delivery.
- Support the project management function in briefing clients and discussing new requirements, offering consultancy on the best approaches.
- Working on a number of CMS's, taking responsibility for developing units of functionality
- Unit testing work, identifying issues and working with the team to resolve these
- Releasing developments into the test and live environments, following a strict version control process
- Working with the team to support and maintain the technical environments
- Working with the project team to scope and estimate new project requirements for clients
- Help to define the roadmap of enhancements and functionality for the in house CMS, contributing to the technical vision of the product suite
- Take ownership and lead the team in new developments, providing guidance on the most appropriate approach for development
- Undertake robust unit testing, ensuring standards are maintained throughout development life cycles

Key skills & experience
- - Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
- Excellent knowledge of Object Oriented coding
- Practical experience in using MVC frameworks for development
- Significant and demonstrable experience working with frameworks like Zend, Symphony, or ideally Laravel
- Excellent knowledge of PHP (v5+) and MySQL
- HTML/CSS/JavaScript/jQuery to a good level
- Previous experience working with a PHP based CMS (Wordpress, Concrete 5, Joomla or similar)
- Practical knowledge of Linux OS/Apache
- Experience using a testing framework such as PHPUnit
- Solid understanding of and experience with deploying technical design methodologies (such as Pattern Based Design)
- Experienced user of version control, ideally GIT
Desired experience
- - Working knowledge of server environment setup and maintenance
- Good knowledge of HTML4, HTML5 and CSS (hand coding) to W3C standards
- Good knowledge of CSS3 and viewport responsive build for both websites and email
- Appreciation of Agile methodologies (ideally SCRUM)
- Working knowledge of UX, IA, and system specification
- Excellent usability and accessibility standards
