Primary Purpose of the Role:

This role is responsible for supporting the Thales Transportation Engineering Safety and Systems Assurance (ES&SA) function in undertaking and delivering the required Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) analyses for Projects/Products, in accordance with Project/Product requirements, Customer requirements, and Chorus 2.0 ES&SA processes. The role will undertake RAM and safetyanalysis mainly for Network Rail TMS project.

To provide leadership and strategic direction with respect to Product Acceptance and Technical Assurancewithin Thales GTS in support of company business and objectives, in compliance with company standards and in line with the Strategic Direction as provided by the Managing Director and Technical Safety and Systems Assurance Director.

The role will exercise effective Product Acceptance and Technical Assuranceleadership within projects and services in order for Thales to meet legal, customer, stakeholder and other relevant requirements placed upon the company.

To provide specialist technical input and support across all rail sector projects, products and functions. To lead, develop and prompt the integration of Product Acceptance and Technical Assurancerelated activities into all rail related projects, current and future as well as Thales rail and non-rail products.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide leadership, guidance and expertise on Product Acceptance and Technical Assurance and
management.

- To ensure that the Product Acceptance and Technical Assuranceprocesses and procedures are effectively implemented and maintained for the systems and/or solutions designed, installed and deployed.

- Ensuring that all UK projects and products conform to all relevant Product Acceptance and Technical Assurance activities, standards and procedures.

- To endorse the Product Acceptance and Technical AssuranceEstimates and Costs for a bid or
project.

- Establish the Product Acceptance and Technical Assurancemanagement and arrangements in the
bid phase when required.

- Coordination of Product Acceptance and Technical Assuranceactivities with key internal and
external stakeholders and customer.

- Promotion, support and direction of the achievement of Product Acceptance and Technical Assurance throughout the organisation both in terms of day-to-day operation and in terms of the
delivered product and services.

- Represent GTS at industry technical committees.

- Develop technical competence, coach and mentor.

- Develop and manage GTS Product Acceptance and Technical Assurancecapability.

- Develop and manage GTS Product Acceptance and Technical Assuranceresource and competency.

Skills:

ExperiencedProduct Acceptance and Technical AssuranceManager and team leader within the rail industry.
Broad Product Acceptance and Technical Assurance skill base and experience, with proven ability.
Proven ability to progress
Product Acceptance and Technical Assurance within large, multi disciplinary project groups.

Experience with implementing HFProduct Acceptance and Technical Assurancewithin a safety critical
industry (preferably Rail).
A proven ability to lead teams and work packages.
Effective written and verbal communication skills with ability to adapt message content depending on audience or stakeholder set.
Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary/multi-national team.
Good knowledge of both Urban and Main Line Signalling and Communication systems.

Experience and Qualifications:

Essential

Degree or equivalent in relevant or related engineering discipline.

Experienced in general Product and Technical Assurance Management - 5 years specific experience within the rail industry and in particular the London Underground environment.

Experience in working on Safety-Critical systems Product and Technical Acceptance and in particular:

?? Management of concessions to industry standards;

?? Management and coordination of Product and Equipment Qualification within the rail industry;

?? Management and coordination of Product Acceptance (including Cross-Acceptance) and Safety Case delivery and Acceptance processes;

?? Management and coordination of all Product Acceptance processes.

Experience in Main Line and Urban rail industryProduct Acceptance and Technical Assurance.

Chartered Engineer & Membership of a relevant professional body.

Provide advice on product standards compliance, and provide advice on and support necessary concessions to Railway standards.
