Our client a financial services company based in Skipton are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with Documentation and Business Facing skills to join an existing team. This is ideal for a candidate with architecture exposure but who works within an environment not large enough to have an architecture team who wants to make the next step. The role is predominantly project based with great scope for future progression.

Main Responsibilities

Developing Solution Designs

• Owns the full end-to-end infrastructure solution designs encompassing all policy requirements including security, scalability, resilience and total cost of ownership considerations
• Creation of Architectural documentation, such as Infrastructure Solution Designs, Statements of Direction; working closely with development teams as appropriate.
• Facilitate development of IT infrastructure solutions that combine knowledge of technological options, and good IT practices.

Architectural Direction

• Review the suitability of new technology. This includes attending technology conferences and organising and leading proof of concept work.
• Consultancy to the operational IT teams on new design standards, including standards for design content.
• Assist in review and development of the Infrastructure/Technology Architecture, models, strategy.
• Assisting to communicate changes to the architecture to major stakeholders as appropriate.

Skills and Experience

• Significant experience in IT operations or working with complex IT systems, with a minimum of five years in a Senior Infrastructure role that has significant external stakeholder interaction or consultancy.
• Documented evidence of high and low level solution design
• Ability to digest internal and external requirements and translate to valid options.
• Experience in meeting facilitation and stakeholder management.
• Ability to establish and maintain a high level of business and IT stakeholder trust and confidence.
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create original concepts and theories for a variety of projects.
• Broad deep understanding of all areas of IT Infrastructure, Data Centre, Networks, Security, Hardware, Operating systems 2003, 2008 & 2012, management systems System Center and telephony infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Virtualization with VMware & Hyper-V
• Experience of Storage platforms such as V-Max, EVA and Centera
