SENIOR NETWORK (BLUECOAT) ENGINEER - STIRLING

Our Client, a leading Financial Services Company, is seeking an experienced Network Engineer with experience in Firewalls, Networking Technologies (LAN/WAN and Internet Technologies - TCP/IP), Application Delivery Technologies and Network Management skills

Key accountabilities & responsibilities

* Infrastructure engineers undertake complex (often unique) incident and problem analysis to identify and resolve issues within the IT infrastructure to maintain system performance and availability.
* Infrastructure engineers will undertake solution design, solution build and solution deployment activities to deliver appropriate infrastructure solutions to meet customer requirements at an enterprise level.
* Infrastructure engineers will influence architectural strategy and will own the technical roadmap for their area.
* Infrastructure engineers are responsible for the identification and development of opportunities provided by emerging technologies; influencing technology selections through their knowledge of emerging capabilities and realising competitive advantage

Technical Knowledge

* Firewall Theory - Demonstrates deep practical knowledge of Firewall theory, rule generation, configuration, constructing rulesets and requirements gathering Displays proficiency in different vendor types of Firewalls.
* Networking Technologies - Utilises experience of design using LAN, WAN and Internet technologies and detailed troubleshooting of applications utilising TCP/IP protocols Displays ability to communicate that understanding both in written and verbal forms
* Application Delivery Technologies - Utilises experience of design of application delivery environments, including IP Firewalls, application Firewalls, load balancing, DNS, web proxies and SMTP mail.
* Web Applications and Systems - Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of web application architectures - web Servers, Web sphere etc Displays familiarity with detail of web application protocols (HTTP - including proxying and cookies - SSL, SOAP etc) Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of application authentication mechanisms (eg Webseal, LDAP) and understanding of web application security issues (including code injection, cross-site Scripting etc).
* Vendor Product Familiarity - Utilises experience of network design using a multi-vendor environment, including Cisco, Juniper and F5. Performs detailed troubleshooting of such environments, and demonstrates the ability to engage with application teams to extract appropriate in format.
* TCP/IP Protocols - Applies knowledge of the TCPIP protocol Suite, VLSM, IP address allocation and IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF and BGP routing protocols. Applies subject matter expert knowledge of all major routed protocols used within the group and can clearly articulate the environment
* Network Management Skills - Demonstrates understanding of Network Management/Monitoring Practises, Displays knowledge of Toolsets available to aid these practices. Articulates and explains at least some of the following; TACACS/CiscoWorks/Probes/HP NNM/NTP/Firewall/Capacity management.
