R&D; Senior Associate- Category Delivery

Description: About the role Hygiene, Personal Care, & Surface Location: Hull Category Hygiene, Personal Care, & Surface is the R&D function responsible for new and existing product development for Dettol/Lysol, Veet, Veja, Cillit Bang, Harpic, as well as other local brands in the Hygiene, Personal Care & Surface categories. The teams are based in three locations: UK, US and India and work closely with global category marketing teams, supply, procurement, regional/local marketing & commercial teams in order to deliver projects to against a brand development pipeline. Key Responsibilities - Develop new products and technicalproduct strategies based on relevant consumer insights in support of brand initiatives and innovation strategy - Assume leadership for multiple projectsin relevant category platform area(s) and advance through the product development process - Lead implementation of NPDs/EPDs at global level by ensuring all required formulation, feasibility work, analysis, validation, stability testing, industrial trials and dossier preparation are performed on time and to the required internal and external standards and market conditions - Work collaboratively to lead a cross-functional teams to ensure key project objectives and milestones are agreed and delivered - Collaborate with relevant stakeholders in Marketing & R&D to develop, prioritize, and execute project portfolio as well as innovation strategy and feasibility projects for assigned platform(s) - To be responsible for day to day supervision, development, and training of his/her team members to enable them to achieve their full potential and to support recruitment of team members as required - Act as a technical resource to help educate other partners on technology and related strategy on specific products in the relevant platform(s) - Support the publication of findings and protection of IP where appropriate. Lead IP tracking in your platform area and ensure that potential threats are shared in an appropriate manner. - Actively participate in consumer understanding and ideation to contribute to the pipeline and work with Marketing to input expertise for concept development and PDC success criteria/claims alignment - Actively foster networks and communication with Marketing, Supply, Quality and other relevant R&D functions to support accomplishment of objectives or special projects as required - Manage supplier/3rd party relationships as required as part of delivery projects in collaboration with other relevant R&D functions - Maintain a good understanding of competitive, research and trade association activities for the relevant platform(s)and share information with the team - Support manager to ensure that facilities and processes are operated with Health and Safety standards as top priority and also to the required standards of good manufacturing and laboratory practice as required Qualifications: Qualifications - Good degree in a relevant scientific discipline - A proven track record of successful delivery of technical projects in a FMCG company, ideally 5+ years - Proven project management, prioritization and problem solving skills Proven ability to drive and translate a concept or brief into a final product through definition and alignment of clear success criteria - Proven experience with recruitment, management and development of people - Strong formulation or technology knowledge - Proven track record of active collaboration and leadership of delivery with external partners, other R&D functions and other RB functions - Scale-up/Industrialisation experience - Understanding of GMP laboratory practice, laboratory equipment, test methods and formulation techniques ideal - Working knowledge of device development would be an advantage - Strong influencing and interpersonal skills to complete complex and high pressure projects - Capable of building strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders - Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills - Ability to identify and communicate risks - Ability to anticipate, plan and realize significant projects involving multiple technical and scientific hurdles - Strong intellectual curiosity, appetite for exploring new and previously uncharted territories - Strategic thinking and a global mindset to identify opportunities from complex information - Excellent communication skills both written and oral in English and excellent presentation skills - Effective selection of scale-up strategies, equipment and process parameters - Ability to identify consumer unmet needs, understand motivations and support development and implementation of appropriate consumer methodology in aid of product definition and optimization - Ability to manage, control and optimize budgets for projects - People management and development skills - Ability to display a degree of flexibility and adapt effectively to change - Experimental design relating to practical formulation development ideal In return RB will offer a very competitive salary and benefits package as well as continued development and career progression on a Global scale.
